The coverage your homeowner’s insurance provides depends on the coverage for which you pay. Some homeowners’ insurance policies will cover a roof replacement when the roof gets too old. Other policies will only cover a damaged roof. Even the cause of the damage can come into question with an insurance company, which is why it’s important to work with us for your roof replacement. We are experts in dealing with insurance companies and roofing insurance claims.
Assess the Damage
Do yourself a favor and take pictures of your roof now before it gets damaged. These pictures will come in handy if you have to file a claim with your insurance company. When your roof gets damaged, assess the damage and document it. This includes taking photos of the damage. You can also provide the insurance company with a video of the damage. Make sure the photos of the damage are clear.
Contact Your Insurer
Next, with your policy in hand, call your homeowner’s insurance company. Talk with your insurance agent to discuss the damage to your roof. Find out if the damage is covered. Make sure to review your policy so you can push back if you feel the damage should be covered based on the policy’s language. Do not let the insurance agent dismiss you. If you have a valid claim, the company should pay for the new roof.
Call Us Next
Next, give us a call so we can come out and provide a detailed estimate to replace or repair your roof. We work with insurance companies all the time, so we know what they need in the estimate. The insurance carrier may require an estimate before they will allow you to file a claim. This gives them the chance to understand their liability. We will work with you to present the insurance company with the best estimate.
File Your Claim
Now, you can file your claim. Follow your insurance company’s specific procedures to make sure you file the claim properly. Submit a copy of the estimate we provide to you so, again, the insurance company understands its liability. Hopefully, the company will make its decision quickly. You may need to wait as long as 30 days in order for your claim to be accepted.
Once the insurance company gives the claim the thumbs up, we will work with them and you to remove the damaged portion of your roof and replace it with a new portion. If your entire roof needs to be replaced, we can do that, too.
